1. WordPress

There are two WordPress platforms that you can choose from. The WordPress.Org which is an independent online blogging platform which you can use but you will need to purchase a domain and hosting. The other one is the WordPress.com which you can use for free.

If you are planning to use your own domain, or simply having a .com on your blog address, I would recommend using WordPress.Org.

3. Yoast SEO

Yoast SEO is a plugin available for WordPress which serves as a guide when writing a content. It checks two areas of an article, the readability and the Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

I’m sure, even longtime online writers are using this plugin because of the many benefits it could give.

The readability of an article is a crucial factor for SEO. Our audience may come different areas of the world and therefore some of them have a language other than English. Yoast SEO uses Flesch reading ease test to check whether the article is written in a way comprehensible to the readers. The higher the score, the more readable is the article.

This app would check if your article is readable by taking into consideration several factors. The first is the length of the sentences. A sentence should not exceed more than 20 words. The article should be divided into shorter sections, at the most, 300 words per section to be considered readable. It also checks whether the sentences contains passive voice and transition words t an acceptable level to be considered readable.

As a blogger, we would like our articles to be searchable on the worldwide web. We aim to be on the front page for a certain keyword. This plugin is very helpful when it comes to search engine optimization.

Yoast SEO checks if the article has an acceptable length of the title, the focus keyword and the length of the article. Additionally, the app also checks the images used within the article, the outbound links, and the keyword density.

Analysis of the article is given with corresponding suggestions on how it should be improved. This way, we could develop our articles so that it would be considered readable and SEO friendly.

I highly recommend this tool especially for beginners like me. Creating a readable and SEO friendly article would not be difficult.

I’m sure you will enjoy also Canva, just like I do.  There are a wide variety of designs to choose from. And most of all, it is free to use.

5. Pixabay

Images are important accessories to our articles. Most people would stay on a page with attractive images attached to an article. We can make use of photos in order to show some steps or to give focus on a particular item. The photos we attached should add clarity to our article.

Pixabay is an online site that offers a wide array of free copyright images. We can use the photos for our articles for free and without attribution.

6. Dropbox

It has been a while that I have been using Dropbox for my work as part of my day job. Just recently, I also discovered other uses of Dropbox that are beneficial to blogging. With the site’s capacity to hold a large volume of files, it is a good tool for our site back-up.

Our files can be backed up any on a regular basis depending on how we set it up. This blogging tool would keep us worry-free knowing that our files would be safe every time.
